#Event: Naoto's Birthday

How long has it been, she thinks in isolation, to see Naoto have her barrier completely closed without any holes to puncture through. Where her guard is down around Her, as she settled against her fur as if it were a childhood blanket — one that she never had or was ever able to warm herself up to. A chick that lost all her baby plumage too quickly with no room for child-like innocent to sprout at her own time. ( a stinging familiarity that cannot be ignored )

Heavy, yet faint, thumps gradually become louder towards the little detective's bed. And soon, a white snout with a nose black as ink would snuffle at a mess of navy blue hair, which poked out from the covers. No doubt, this nest belonged to Naoto-san. Unable to be any more patient, a huff of urgency would disturb the wild locks. If the child were to finally wake up, something crimson as Mother's markings caught her eye— a large folded piece of cloth? However, knowing Her, it would not be just an ordinary either. Once given to her, the fabric of the blanket was incredibly soft, like velvet. Not only that, but if she were to check the underside of the blanket; it was white, with much longer and plushen fur. It wasn't unlike Amaterasu's.

Which brought up a question, could this be knitted by Amaterasu herself? With the way She laid her chin right next to her daughter, those movements could say all for itself, eyes radiating with pure fondness . . . Another loud "i love you" exchanged silently . . .

Naoto's Birthday | Open

Sleep came much easier these days, mostly in the form of a dreamless sleep, or something so nonsensical that it would be forgotten once morning came. The cause was obvious, but the whys and hows were left unanswered. For now, she was content to leave it be, thankful that it wasn’t fires and smoke that forced her awake.

So when Amaterasu trotted into her room, Naoto was none the wiser, still fast asleep and burrowed underneath the blankets. Finally, she awakened, blearily poking her head out before looking around. It didn’t take too long before her tired eyes focused on Amaterasu and the additional weight on top of her. A yawn, then Naoto stuck her arm out, petting the top of the wolf’s head before sitting up. One hand gently rubbed at her eyes while the other inspected the folded red cloth.

It was the same color as Amaterasu’s markings, she noted. Unfolding it, the other side was white and very, very soft to the touch. Like her fur.

She smiled, then wrapped it around her shoulders, almost like she was ready to fall asleep once more. In a way, Naoto was tempted. Soft and comforting, a reminder that Amaterasu would always be there, even if her adventures took her to other corners of Japan for weeks or months on end.

“You caught me at a time where I’m not cognizant enough to run away from gifts,” she joked. Her arms wrapped around Amaterasu as best as she should, a hug. “I don’t know how else to thank you...” Besides giving her pets and scratches, listening and taking careful note of the stories she shared. “Maybe saying ‘I love you’ is enough?”

Naoto broke away from the hug, then stretched—like a cat as the team commented, although she failed to see the similarities. Without her hat, the blush on her cheeks was plain as day.

“So... I love you, too.”

ok so - little round up for what the IT are working towards in my post-canon as of December 2013, which is when Failsafe and Static Space takes place, and some other background trivia.

Kanji, Yukiko and Rise are all working on their careers from canon (Kanji training to take over the Textiles Shop, Yukiko preparing to manage the Amagi Inn, and Rise is back as the idol Risette).

Alongside this though, Kanji has started hosting little community craft days at Tatsumi Textiles. A lot of kids and older people show up to these. It took a while for people to warm up to the idea of Kanji hosting them, but Nanako helped out and told her friends at school about it, which got the ball rolling a bit. He was embarrassed at first, but is now just super passionate about showing these folks how to SEW DAMMIT. (also it's great advertising, so win-win right).

Yukiko is looking into courses on things that interest her and has expressed that while she does want to inherit the inn, she doesn't want to become manager yet, especially not while she's still a teenager. Currently she's learning martial arts with Chie - because it's fun. and she can spend more time with Chie.

Rise is still working as an idol, however, in the interest of getting a full education and allowing her to have some semblance of a normal private life, she's mostly based in Inaba for the time being. A studio space has been bought in Okina for her to practise in so she can stay close to home.

Chie, upon talking more with Dojima and Naoto about some things, has decided that while she still wants to protect people, she doesn't want to be a cop. Instead, she's looking into becoming a martial arts instructor, in order to show people how to take care of themselves. Yukiko trains with her a lot now, but sometimes other members of the IT will all get together and learn from her too - like Kanji and his craft days, she was embarrassed about it at first, but seeing the support from her friends has fired her up.

Naoto is back taking cases as a detective, however they've limited themselves to only taking cases in and around Inaba, with Dojima vouching for them. This is so they can stay close to home for both their friends and their education. As much as they enjoy being a detective and will continue to be one, they do also want to go to college.

Teddie is still the mascot at Junes! While he of course hates doing busy work, he has a lot of fun as a mascot and entertaining kids in the food court, so that's what he mainly does now - unless they're really short staffed and need someone on the floor or Yosuke's in a petty mood.

Yosuke is still working at Junes, but he doesn't want to be there forever. He's trying to get into college to study something music related, and is mainly looking into production at Rise's suggestion. Outside of that, he spends a lot of time with Nanako (she somehow managed to get him hooked on Magical Detective Loveline but that's a secret he'll take to the grave). His feelings on Inaba Vs the city are still quite complicated, but he has learned to like Inaba quite a bit.

Yu doesn't know what he wants to do and it scares him. He's still going to apply for college, but he has no idea what exactly he wants to study or where he wants to go in the future. He wants to be in Inaba, and that's about all he knows.

Timeline stuff for anyone wondering:

Yu arrives back in Inaba on Tuesday 17th December. His talk with Yosuke in chapter 2 happens the next day on Wednesday 18th.

The 'surprise reverse welcome home party', is set to happen on Friday 20th (which funnily enough is my birthday and no that was not intentional, it's just what ended up working best lol).

Other things:

The events of Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax did NOT happen. This is because the Narukami's moved to Iwatodai during Golden Week, so Yu was unable to make it back to Inaba. Also because I haven't played them haha

Yukichie are together at this point. Let's go lesbians.

Too tired rn to work on the scenario I'm supposed to be so here's persona (3-5) characters as gift givers

Minato: good but the timing is never expected. He'll just see or make something, go "hn, they'd like this" and not wait for a holiday or birthday to hand it over. On the flip side unless he's made promises he's probably forgotten to get gifts ahead of time.

Hamuko: excellent gift giver, and she even gets the timing right. It's never something you'd thought to ask for though. Always something useful or that you really like, but never what you'd think up on your own.

Mitsuru: It's not that she's a bad gift giver- far from it- it's just that she's got a sort of limited idea of the kinds of gifts to give for any specific event. Unless you ask for something specific, you can probably sort every gift she gives into a few categories. Still, whatever she gives is either extremely high quality or super sentimental. Or both.

Akihiko: help him. He's not "the worst gift giver ever" or anything but he never knows what specifically to give someone. Well not never. Occasionally he strikes gold and we love him for the effort either way.

Shinji: I don't want to say bad, but how often do you really expect he'd bother at all? Not a big "gifts" guy. More likely to cook for you if you're close enough for him to bother doing anything at all. He's sweet under everything, but that doesn't make him great at gift giving.

Yukari: decent gift giver. Consistently gives good, appropriate gifts. They may not be "the best gift from x holiday" but you know you'll like anything she got you

Junpei: mixed bag. On one hand he can absolutely figure out great gifts, on the other hand he might get sidetracked and get you something he'd like without realizing. Unless he really likes you, in which case he may take it far more seriously.

Fuuka: she's good at it! As she gets older she gets better at giving gifts. She may even make you little tech things if she can.

Aigis: that super depends on how close you are. If you're not very close you might get, like, a gift card. If you are close she may try to find something specific for you. Whether she succeeds in getting you something good also is kind of a coin toss. She's not awful at it though.

Ken: he tries! He usually even succeeds!

Koromaru: he is a dog. He gives you his time and love, what else could you ever want.

Yu: Great gift giver! He cares so much all the time. Probably the type to go "Oh they would like this" and get something right away to give later, at a more fitting time for gifts.

Yosuke: man he tries is best. He would be the best gift giver we're it not for money. As is he does what he can with what he's got.

Chie: im so sorry to say, middling gift giver. She's perfect at giving gifts to certain people, and awful for others. Hope you'd be on the former side.

Yukiko: so long as she hasn't decided to cook for you? Genuinely good a giving small gifts. Larger gestures are a bit awkward so she's more likely to give you a dozen small gifts than one bigger one.

Kanji: FANTASTIC gift giver. 10/10. He makes all his gifts himself and they're perfect and if you have any complaints you're wrong.

Rise: good! Rise is a pretty solid giver of gifts. Might even give the occasional super great gift if she really likes you.

Naoto: solid gift giver. She rarely if ever disappoints with her choice of present. You will always be happy with something if it's from Naoto.

Teddie: his gifts are sweet, that doesn't necessarily mean they're good. Like when a child gives you a gift and you cherish it, of course, but it's not the best thing you were given objectively. Maybe a little better than that.

Labrys: she's okay at giving gifts, but the lack of experience with others shows in how much she struggles to pick one

Ren: great. Maybe a bit spontaneous with when he actually gives gifts, but great. Always has something for holidays/birthdays, but the best gifts you'll get will be the random ones

Ryuji: actually great too, but he doesn't have the ability to actually get as many gifts. Besides most of his gift giving is to his mom, so any other gifts to other people are second priority.

Ann: also good! You will never be disappointed in a gift she's given you. Her gifts are also probably pretty sentimental, so you know she didn't just pick something at random last minute. Unlikely to randomly give gifts, though.

Yusuke: boys broke so you're not getting anything that isn't homemade. If he does make you something- or let's be real just if he paints you something- it will be incredible. It's just a matter of if he'll actually remembers to

Makoto: she's doing her best. Sometimes her gifts are a little generic or underwhelming, but you know she's trying. She may even strike gold once in a while.

Futaba: oh she's great at it, she probably has your search history to reference- okay but seriously if you have wishlists she also has your wishlist, so you'll get something you wanted

Haru: sometimes her gifts are a little weird but she's not bad necessarily. Just a solid attempt every time.

Akechi: man I don't know. Could he be good at it? Absolutely. Will he actually go out of is way to get you a gift? Ehhh maybe. Depends where he is in his own life.

Morgana: where's the cat getting gifts? He'd be fine if he were able to.

Sumire: good! Just a solid gift giver, I don't have much else to say.

Kanji fiddles behind his back, nerves pulled taut. Hastily, something is shoved into Naoto's chest.

"I'm uh, kinda shitty at wrapping things, so..."

It's a crocheted rabbit, bearing a thin smile. On its head, a bright blue detective cap, with holes sized perfectly for its floppy, long ears. Alongside the cap is a fitted vest, decorated with similar colors -- with a badge pinned to the right-half of its chest. Its eyes are gray, bright, and reflect Kanji's nervous expression.

"Happy, uh. Happy birthday, Naoto."

No sooner had the others stopped Naoto for their personal greetings and gift-giving than Kanji arrived, appearing quite anxious and apprehensive. His behavior always shifted drastically around her presence, or whenever he attempted to express genuine feelings towards his friends. A lot changed in the time they became acquaintances, but some? Not so much.

"Good day, Kanji-kun." Before any other pleasantries were exchanged, something had been forced into her hands. Surprise settled upon her features, gaze circling between Kanji's skittish bright eyes and the gift in her hands. A plush rabbit, with matching clothes resembling her own. The stitching and accessories were exemplary as one whom self-taught himself knew well. She accumulated a decent number of plush animals and stationary items over the years, but a handmade one was not in her collection.

"I...uh..." It's rather cute. The floppy ears folded down enough so the head and hat didn't feel too top-heavy. How long did he spend making this? "...I...well, it's a very..." Adorable. "...well-thought gift." It's more than satisfactory. The fact this plush reflected herself, down to the outfit and badge, told her how much effort Kanji put into making this the perfect birthday present. Just for Naoto.

"I do hope this wasn't something you toiled over too much. Your sewing skills are quite impressive, after all." A genuine compliment? Coupled with a fleeting smile? Perhaps the recognition of today's events and intimate gestures from trusted friends individuals melted away her usual cold façade.

Today's events were nothing but a reminder of what lonesome air embraced them for years and continued to remind them of their lack of intimate bonds that they were seemingly satisfied without. Despite their grandfather's efforts to encourage them they weren't sold on the idea that friends were necessary or perhaps they were just afraid to admit that making them proved difficult for a myriad of reasons. Their shortcomings were often difficult for them to wrestle with, perhaps too aware of them to face them without a little emotion ruining their efforts. Birthdays were grim reminders rather than joyful experiences and they aren't sure when the transition took place that altered their line of thinking but now it's stuck.

Working on their birthday had become somewhat of a habit. Despite their grandfather's pleas to enjoy the day they were usually insistent that they put more focus on their career than personal matters. Whether that's to escape the gnawing feeling or actually sharpen their skills is up for debate. Although, a day's work already comes to a close when they pass by the Tofu shop and suddenly a wave pulled them from their thoughts. Blinking, they turn to look at the Idol with mild surprise and then the bento held out to them. Horror stories about their friends' cooking suddenly reminded them that there was a chance this wouldn't be edible but her reassurance does help tempt them.

A smile is their answer, at first. It's really just a plain, small smile but this gesture alone is enough to make them feel … appreciated? They hadn't asked for anything or even acknowledged the day but it seems Rise had it committed to memory. "Thank you," gently they take the bento into their hands before they realize they aren't exactly in a place to have a meal. Awkwardly they try to find the words, fumbling in the process. "Would … you want to join me then? You should at least see how I like it, right?"

If he was a chef, then surely, he’d appreciate something related to it. She couldn’t supply an infinite amount of ingredients, but someone such as himself would like exploring, she thought. It wasn’t a top contender for the seat of the spiciest anymore, but a few bags of dried ghost peppers seemed suitable enough.

It was a surprise seeing Naoto approach him, into his living quarters of all places. It was usually the other way around where Yusuke would pursue an audience with her whenever he needed a 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧 or maybe even just her company and counsel. OH, his birthday..okay that made sense why she’s here, the notion brought a smile on his face. It also explained why she carried a number of boxes on her person.

A wink directed towards Naoto which is of course followed by a rather happy grin. “Thanks alot babe, definitely juggling the ideas of making a competition of seeing how many hot bowls people could handle before quittin’” Maybe an event in a small neighborhood or public area like a park if anything to raise money for a cause he believed in. The possibilities were near endless.

-----------                fog covered the whole area of the archimedes ward. almost everyone had no chance of seeing anything, aside from one exception: shirogane naoto. as it turns out, their glasses that teddie had made for the tv world worked in the current situation... which worried them. what if the ward were to be attacked by shadows? they couldn’t protect anyone if there were shadow attacks--for one, neither rise nor teddie were here, and for two, they had no powers, along with their gun being lesser quality.

however, they could certainly help evacuate. they’d help anyone that asked for it, even walking them to their ward if they so desired. naoto didn’t know how else they could be of use, anyway. as they gingerly walked back to the archimedes ward from cotes, they felt something was... off.

not that this whole situation felt off, but it was... certainly a rift. their footsteps slowly stopped moving as the feeling got worse and worse, taking a moment to grab their bb gun (as if that would help anything). looking around in caution, they fail to realize what was happening until, suddenly, their bb gun fell to the ground. weirdly enough, they also... couldn’t feel their hands.

grey-blue eyes immediately glanced down to where their hands should be, pupils becoming smaller as they find out that their hands weren’t there. their throat tightened as they watch their forearms slowly become invisible, their shoulders becoming tense as a result.

“what,” they croaked out, paling as they watch it gain a little bit of momentum. licking their lips, they glance up at the sky for a split second.

the eclipse. it’s here. does this always happen? if you were here long enough, did the eclipse make you start to disappear? wait... no. that can’t be it. susie had been here way longer than they had, and she hadn’t disappeared, to their knowledge. then why was this happening? was this NULL’s fault? the stars?

or, maybe, they were dying. in that case, it’d be no one’s fault.

they remember passing by a toxic area during one of their evacuation missions... was this happening because of that? then... then they’d be fine, right? they heard rumors that, if you died, you came back to life. does this fading count?

either way, they don’t have much time to ponder on it. the fading has gained a significant amount of speed, and while they can still stand, it feels weird--as if their legs were gelatin. shame that their hands didn’t get the same treatment, however.

there’s not much time left. managing to swallow the lump in their throat, naoto closes their eyes, attempting to calm themselves down. they’d be okay, wouldn’t they? NULL couldn’t possibly change how people died... there’s no way. they’d be back to normal in no time, no doubt about it.

it’s up to their chin now. it’s a bit difficult to breathe, but they kept clinging on to the hope--the fact--that they’ll be back soon. naoto opens their eyes and stares at a wall as this went down, keeping their composure as best as they could. despite this, tears still pricked at their eyes.

dying due to toxins was an dishonorable way to die, even with regeneration. could their family see them right now? how disappointed would they be in their most recent shirogane? for once, naoto would rather turn a blind eye to that thought. with tears falling down onto the ground, naoto watched as everything became darker, until it was pitch black.

. . . .

. . . . .

naoto wakes up with a yelp.

their eyes quickly opened, glancing around the room in a panic. their breathing is unsteady and heavy, as if they had been holding their breath. they were sweating and frantically pushing themselves up so they could sit upright. holding their hands out in front of their face.

they’re in tact.

blinking, naoto swallows, looking around again. this time, though, they paid attention to every detail. messy closet, a door with that weird scratch, the nightstand with a good bit of their belongings...

this was their apartment. not the condo in isola, but their temporary home in yasoinaba. why were they back? did they not actually die...? was that whole process... their departure? why didn’t it just simply take them out in a second, instead of taking god knows how long to fade away?

so many questions, with no answer available. looking at the clock on the wall, they notice how late it was. sighing, they put their head in their hands, mulling everything over. that is, until they realized how sluggish they felt, along with the pain.

right... in this world, they had just gotten rescued from the tv world a day or so beforehand. of course they wouldn’t be in good shape. lying back down, naoto’s gaze locked onto the ceiling, falling into a squint. they want to sleep, but something stops them.

for some reason, they feel as if someone was watching their every move. though, it wasn’t someone from here; it was someone from isola. why were the stars still watching them? whatever happened there was none of naoto’s concern anymore.

pain manages to overwhelm the feeling of being watched, however, and with a wince, naoto falls asleep.

Naoto headcanons because I’m sad and I love them

Naoto might be a mild germaphobe

And by mild germaphobe I mean whenever either Rise or Kanji gets sick Naoto will fully put on a mask and gloves and face shield and disinfect the entire apartment

She isolates them in a single room and yells at them if they get out of bed

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT OF ISOLATION”

Naoto actually loves her scooter and spends a lot of time taking care of it and even buys upgraded parts for it when she can. If you touch it she’ll fucking murder you especially if your name is Yosuke Hanamura

Nanako thinks that Naoto is friends with Magical Witch Detective Loveline and sometimes gives her letters or gifts to pass on to Loveline

On Nanako’s birthday they give her a letter written to her by “Detective Loveline” and Nanako absolutely lights up. Naoto keeps up the ruse for a little while until Nanako grows out of it

Whenever she comes back in town from solving a case Yosuke or Teddie will always treat her to a free drink at Junes and they’ll sit down and catch up give me more Yosuke and Naoto friendship Atlus you cowards

Naoto and Dojima bonded a lot after the case was over and she decided to stay in Inaba so she could work as his new partner and stay close to Kanji. Even if he doesn’t show it, he’s damn proud to be able to take her under his wing

Naoto helps Kanji dye his hair back to black after the events of the game that’s it that’s the headcanon

Naoto never learns to use technology properly. They never grow out of that weird texting style. She can’t even use a GPS she prints out the directions from MapQuest and breaks the printer every time she uses it

Juno Klein (クラインジューノー Klein Juno) is an art dealer-turned-curator working for a national art museum within Japan. 

“Did you come to see the archives again? No rush, right this way! Maybe afterwards, we can even grab a cup of coffee together. Only if you have time, of course!”

Appearance—

Juno is a young adult with long wavy hair and a slightly feminine appearance. They usually wear a suit during typical work hours. During important social events for their museum, they can be seen in a somewhat revealing navy dress. 

Personality—

Juno is a sociable and bubbly person, wholly devoted to their work and their ideals. Deeply emotional and a bit air-headed at times, their personality seemingly stands at odds with their cutthroat work ethic. When pressed enough though, they’re willing to stand by what they believe in—even if it leads to their own death.

Raised in a middle-class family that struggled to handle their financial demands, Juno holds a great deal of contempt towards “mediocre” adults and attempts to act as if they were from a well-off background. However, that act is easy to dismantle.

Skills and Abilities—

As a curator to a well-established museum and research institution, Juno holds special access to a variety of historical records. They also have access to a fair amount of money as a representative dealer for the museum (granted, they are forbidden from using those funds for personal needs). Such resources are used to assist the organized crime department of Tokyo, specifically at the request of Naoto Tachibana.

Originally hailing from France, they’re able to speak a handful of different languages. 

Etymology—

Juno’s name is a reference to the Roman goddess of marriage

Klein is in reference to the French new realism artist Yves Klein

Juno owns two cats named Pearl and Pudding.

1.       Skip Beat – ongoing

Sixteen-year-old Kyouko Mogami followed her childhood friend and love interest Shoutarou "Shou" Fuwa to Tokyo to support him while he works toward his dream of becoming a top idol in the entertainment industry. But after finding out that Shou considers her as little more than a mere housekeeper, she swears to enact revenge by entering the entertainment industry herself and beating him at his own game!

However, Kyouko's revenge plan suffers a setback almost immediately when she is rejected by the talent agency of her choice. Fortunately, the president of the agency gives her a second chance, and places her in the newly made "Love Me" section. Kyouko then begins her long journey to stardom, cultivating her skills as an actress and forming relationships with new friends along the way.

! I always loved this one, but it has really REALLY slow-pacing, and its ongoing, so if you haven’t started it yet, I’d wait ‘til it’s done.

2.       Ouran High School Host Club

At Ouran High School, an academy where only the children of the rich and powerful attend, there exists a club consisting of the most elite of the student body: the legendary Host Club. Within the club's room, six beautiful, bored boys spend their time entertaining equally beautiful and bored girls.

Haruhi Fujioka, a poor scholarship student, has no interest in the Host Club—until she breaks a valuable vase in their clubroom. After being mistaken for a boy, Haruhi is forced by Kyouya Ootori to work for the Host Club to repay her debt. Tamaki Suou, the princely leader of the club, eagerly takes her under his wing to teach her the ways of the host. Things, however, are never quite so simple with the Host Club around. Even the most mundane events can turn into huge spectacles with the likes of prankster twins Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, stoic Takashi Morinozuka, and sweet Mitsukuni "Hunny" Haninozuka. The crazy adventures of the Host Club are just beginning, and Haruhi must learn how to survive in the glitzy world of the hosts.

3.       Kimi ni Todoke

Kuronuma Sawako is completely misunderstood by her classmates. Her timid and sweet demeanor is often mistaken for malicious behavior. This is due to her resemblance to the ghost girl from "The Ring," which has led her peers to give her the nickname Sadako. Longing to make friends and live a normal life, she is naturally drawn to Kazehaya Shouta, the most popular guy in class, whose "100% refreshing" personality earns him great admiration from Sawako. So when Kazehaya starts talking to her, maybe there is hope for the friendships Sawako has always longed for. Maybe...there is even a little hope for some romance in her future.

! A bit too long in my opinion, but its sweet.

4.       Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge

It's a gorgeous, spacious mansion, and four handsome, fifteen-year-old friends are allowed to live in it for free! There's only one condition—that within three years the guys must transform the owner's wallflower niece into a lady befitting the palace in which they all live! How hard can it be?

Enter Sunako Nakahara, the agoraphobic, horror-movie-loving, pockmark-faced, frizzy-haired, fashion-illiterate recluse who tends to break into explosive nosebleeds whenever she sees anyone attractive. This project is going to take more than our four heroes ever expected: it needs a miracle!

! This is super frustrating. I loved everything, except for the ending. Honestly, I don’t recommend reading it with great expectations, just enjoy the story. 

5.       Dengeki Daisy

Teru Kurebayashi is left all alone in the world after the death of her brother, Souichirou. Well, all alone except for "Daisy," someone that she can always talk to and who never hesitates to cheer her up. However, Teru has never met Daisy, she has no idea what he looks like, and her only means of contacting him is through a cell phone that her brother left for her.

In stark contrast to the kind words and encouragement Teru receives from Daisy, she gets nothing but grief from the rude school janitor, Tasuku Kurosaki, who forced Teru to work for him after she accidentally broke a window. But while Kurosaki seems like a lazy good-for-nothing who only enjoys making her miserable, is there more to him than meets the eye?

6.       Kaichou wa Maid-sama

Seika High School was an all-boys school, but it has since turned co-ed. Misaki Ayuzawa is the first female student council president of the school, eventually earning the nickname of the "Demon President" due to her mastery of Aikido and imposed iron rule.

However, Misaki harbors an embarrassing secret—she has to work at a maid café to support her family. If anybody from her school was to find out, her reputation would be utterly destroyed. And after Takumi Usui—the most popular boy at school—discovers her secret, that might just happen.

7.       Special A

Have you ever known someone who was better than you at everything you did? Hikari does. She's known Kei since they were both six years old and he's surpassed her at everything. Now they are the top two students in an extremely prestigious high school, with Kei holding firmly to that number one position, and Hikari is still determined to beat him, no matter what it takes.

8.       Black Bird

Misao Harada has been able to see demons since she was a child and has vague memories of a boy who protected her from these troublesome creatures, vowing to come back for her someday. Now in high school, Misao wishes she could be normal and have a boyfriend. As she returns home one day, she notices a gorgeous stranger has moved in next door. To her surprise, he introduces himself as Kyou, her long-lost childhood friend and first love.

The next day, on her 16th birthday, Misao is suddenly wounded by a classmate. Exposed as a demon, he plans to eat her in order to gain eternal youth. When all hope seems lost, Kyou saves her, revealing himself as the leader of a Tengu clan. Since making Misao his bride will bring prosperity to his clan, he offers her a choice: sleep with him and become his bride, or endure more attacks from other demons drawn to the power of her blood.

! A bit dramatic to my taste, but overall I really liked it

9.     Last Game

Nothing is beyond Naoto Yanagi, heir to the Yanagi business conglomerate. Idolized for his athletic and intellectual competence, looks and wealth, Naoto lived like a king during his elementary school days—then entered Mikoto Kujou, a plain, gloomy-looking transfer student.

Due to her low financial status, Naoto was initially apathetic towards Mikoto. But despite having just arrived at his school, she completely eclipsed him in everything by consistently scoring top marks in exams and placing first in athletic events. After a brief confrontation with her that left him shocked, Naoto vowed to outdo her no matter the cost.

Ten years later, they are now students attending the same college. Having failed to defeat Mikoto throughout middle and high school, Naoto decides they will have one last game: if he can make Mikoto fall in love with him and then break her heart, it will be his victory. However, he finds himself falling in love with her instead...

! One of my favorites! 

I love this one, but beware, its slow-paced

There wasn’t much a kid like her could buy, but Makoto liked that Panchimaru panda thing. She didn’t understand the appeal, but knowing that made finding gifts a lot easier. The key chain wasn’t anything spectacular, just the panda holding bamboo, yet people went crazy over it if this had been the last one in stock. It went inside a small box, one that used to hold some other accessory long ago.

With how small it was, there was no need to giftwrap it, she thought. So she handed it over like that, plain and unassuming, potentially a little misleading. “It’s your birthday, so...”

Time constantly changes, and with it came several uncertainties and uncomfortable adjustments everyone had to embrace. Whether a dire need for something different was required or if it must be forcefully swallowed in order to accept the alterations, it always happened. Nobody could stop it. One way or another, it was a necessary condition of the ever-changing society. Although these instances usually wrought bouts of anxiety and apprehension, since some people refused to acknowledge these changing tides, other circumstances led to more positive adjustments in a person's life. It all depended on the individual's outlook on the situation.

Some constants remained the same, never turning or transforming into a different perspective, and as years passed they solidified more into general life facts. Each individual grew up with several of these facts already known since birth, or some coming into existence when a sudden turn of events veered their life's course to an entirely different path. Unexpected losses, financial declines, or house evictions made the perfect starting point for these cases. It began unexpected hardships, and potentially losing relationships with friends or family in the process. It always happened...

And it happened for Shujin's student council president. The little family she had remaining never bothered sitting down and questioning the brunette's feelings on such traumatic instances. Her dad left her in the care of her older sister. From then on, their days and nights were hardly spent together. Not even mingling together by the dinner table due to their conflicted schedules. A simple morning greeting was the best Sis managed in a single day. Nothing else.

Now, on the day of Makoto's own birthday, the younger Nijima anticipated the same, daily treatment. A lone card was the only difference among their morning routine, yet Sae stood nowhere in sight upon Makoto's entrance into the kitchen. Just as expected. Another constant in her life. She vacated the apartment without bothering to read the contents inside the card (if Sae bothered writing anything other than her own name). School kept her mind off of any depressive thoughts worming themselves into her mind. If dad were still alive, it'd be different.

If dad was here, she'd feel included. If dad was here, she'd be smiling again. If dad was here, she'd feel loved. If dad was-

"-OH! Oh, I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention..." The brunette's apology lingered away upon seeing a recognizable newsboy cap at her eye level. How had she forgotten about her other sister? Naoto rarely visited, but the few times the two bumped into each other wandering Shibuya's crowded streets it always turned into a pleasant confrontation. She suspected Sae's cold behavior kept the young detective away from their home. An estranged sibling hardly ever received recognition or compassion from their blood family, yet Makoto felt more vulnerable around Naoto. More...connected even.

"...you...oh..." Maroon eyes led down to the small, jewelry-sized box held in the other girl's palm. A birthday gift, from one sister to another. She gingerly took the present in hand, carefully opening the lid to reveal yet another prized Buchimaru collectible awaiting inside. "...oh....oh! You...you found this one!? They're only available at specific gacha machines across the country." Did this mean Naoto intentionally made plans to grab this rare memorabilia for today's special occasion?

All for Makoto?

"...y-you know...I still have that Buchi-mailman plush you gave me last time..." It remained untouched, sitting comfortably among her shelf of various panda-themed mementos and close to Makoto's bedroom desk. That was on purpose. "And now...I have something else I've gotten from you on my birthday...so..." Would it be too selfish to ask at this time? She hardly knew Naoto's schedule but concluded it was just as busy, if not entirely packed, as Sae's daily calendar of events. But maybe, just this once...

...she wouldn't be a burden if she asked for this request?

"...I'm...wondering if...you happen to be free later...would you like to join me for dinner?"
